This listing is for a crochet pattern for a dinosaur hood or dragon hood. It works for both! Sometimes called a cowl or scoodie, these animal hoods are very popular with children in the cold weather. This crochet pattern uses UK crochet terms.

HAT & SCARF
This dinosaur hood, is a great cosy hat and scarf all in one. It slips over the head easily, is super soft and snuggly and will keep out a cold wind, and even light rain.  and how fun are the spikes & tail!  
 
SIZING
Instructions are given for six different sizes of dinosaur hood, from baby to adult. The baby size can also be used to fit a doll so your child and their toy can have matching animal heads!
 
YARN
This pattern uses chunky yarn so this pattern crochets up fast. 
 
HOOK SIZE
Using chunky yarn, we recommend a 9mm (US size 13) hook for the main hood pattern and a 6.5mm (US size 10.5) hook for the spikes and tails. You will need between 100g/90m and 350g/320m of the main yarn colour depending on the size being made.  For the spikes and tail, you will need between 50g/45m and 100g/90m of yarn.
 
COLOURS
Choose whichever colours you like! We've gone for traditional dinosaur colours but you could easily turn this into a dragon hood or dragon cowl by using other colours. Perhaps red with orange spikes! One of our customers crocheted hers in light grey with bright pink spikes and tail for her daughter!
 
Hugely popular with children at the moment, I designed this for the boys, but it seems just as popular with the girls :)
